The book presents a model which can assist the country in helping a large number of people in rural areas to improve their standard of living and quality of life. The book is based on a scientific study which has discovered the interesting correlations between the ‘achievement motivation’ of the micro-entrepreneur women in rural areas and the probability of their succeeding in running a micro-enterprise on a sustainable basis. This measure of achievement motivation is based on the scientific work by Dr David McClelland of Harvard University provided an interesting factor to explain the difference  between failure and success of women entrepreneurs in the rural areas.

This pioneering effort by the authors of this book will provide motivation for several others to help the large population of this country to come out of the poverty trap and improve the indicators of human development. Dr N C Saxena, National Advisory Council, Government of India
